ML 320 gas mileage

Been looking at some 01 ML 320's and just wondering what kind of mileage you can expect out of these.

ML320 gas mileage

I have gotten nearly 27 MPG on long trips in cruise at 70+; around town it drops to 18-20.

That is my experience in an ML that is in "perfect" condition .... Ben Carter

I have a 2000 ML320 and get a little over 26 mpg on the highway and usually get 20-21 in mixed driving. When Mercedes went to the ML 350, the fuel economy dropped quite a bit so would stick with the ML 320's.

Wow, that would be great. All the dealers are only saying 19/21. Thats a big difference.

2000 ML-320. Traded for 2008 model CDI in April, 2008. Over the life of the 2000 we got on average 18.7 over 131,574 miles. We did achieve in the 25 mpg range on a long trip on mostly 55 mph roads. About 70 - 80% of our miles were on highways, and about 75% of the highway miles on freeways with speeds of either 65 or 70 mph. We always set the cruise at the speed limit.

99 ML 320 with 217K miles.

Just got back from a trip. 17.8 MPG based on a tank that was used about 30% in town and the balance on the highway at 80+ MPH. Ouch.

Note: Have been alternating 87 octane and 89 octane fuel. This tank was on the 87 octane.

2000 ML320. Owned since 2001. 17-18 mpg local, 23 mpg highway on premium E10 gas. Not bad for a truck of this weight.

The wife's 01 ML320 with new plugs, wires, and air filter averages 17 with a mix of highway and city driving. The vehicle has 107K miles.

I'm jealous. My wife's '04 ML350 gets 15 mpg in city driving. Sucks. Hwy mileage seems to be around 18/19.

kenyee 07-28-2008 12:55 PM

The ML350 is a bigger engine, so that's not a surprise :-)

I fairly consistently get 21-22mpg in highway driving (no cruise control) and 17-18 in the city. My record hand measured is 26mpg w/ cruise control over one long road trip fillup on my 2001 ML320.

ml 320 mpg

For the first time on a 120 mile highway trip hit 25.1 mpg. I am shocked.

2000 ml320

city: 15-16 mpg; Hwy: 23-26 mpg depending on speed. Been this way since new. Approx. 45,000 miles. Engine burns No oil between 10,000 mile oil changes with Mobil 1.

Good highway mileage with cruise on trips

I normally get 25 -27 MPG on long trips, using the cruise -- at 75 MPH average on the interstates.

Has alternating the octane caused any problems for you? I tried that on my Lincoln which requires 91 octane. I was putting in half a tank of 89 and then half a tank of 93 whenever I filled up. I had some problems starting it a couple of times. When I went back to all 93 octane, the starting problems ceased.
