W163 - Schedualed Maintenance Question -

Hi,

I have a question about my AT 2003 ML 320 (W163) . It has been a great auto. The question is the little "wrench" light came on today and I was wondering what is the schedualed Maintenance at 70,000. I know my other cars have it listed in the in the owners manual.
(do this Maintenance at 50K, do this Maintenance at 70K, etc.. )

But the MB does have it but its not really simplified - it just say "change at these intervals in the back of the book. Honestly, I have been taking to the dealer for the last four years and I think if its just change the oil, plugs, and a few filters that surely isnt worth 2,000K for the 70K -- but if I should change the rear oil, tranmission, and serpentine-- then maybe I should take it in.

So I want to ask the experts ( aka you guys ) Is there a schedualed list of what to do and if so what is it. There is nothing wrong with the auto and everything is as it should be; working like a typical Benzs.

Thank you for any and all assistance.

For your model the calculation of service level "A" or "B" depends on the mileage driven since the last service and that which was done then, possibly (depends on the mileage interval). Numerous specific items are grouped into catagories of mileage or time. Such as spark plugs, they have probably not been done before as you are now into the mileage interval and a year over the time limit. Brake fluid is done every two years not by mileage. There is a list that spells it all out.

I could email you a copy if you send your address.

Steve, could we use this brake-fluid schedule on the older cars that require an annual change? (I am assuming the brake fluid of today has properties of less moisture retention than 30 years ago).

At least you want it done right, most people with ML's I deal with just want an oil change regardless and keep doing that until the wheels fall off.

Technically at 70-k, an "A" service is due.

For many models if you join "owners online" at mbusa.com you can download a pdf copy of your maintenance manual. You can also surely order a paper copy at your dealer.
