ABS unit part numbers
Hey, can anyone give me any input on this. I am trying to buy an used ABS unit with module for my 2000 ml320. The PN on my pump is A163 431 0712 and the PN on the unit that I am looking at is A163 431 0512. As you can see only one number is off. They both look identical with same plug ins. Does anyone know if I could use this pump assembly.
Like always thanks in advance. |

Generally with Mercedes a higher number is a newer number.
Cynics raised in the American car culture will think that this means Mercedes found a way to source the part cheaper, but the fact of Mercedes life is usually that it's an improved part. Parts having to do with safety are a dumb place to buy used parts and a dumb place to make dubious substitutions. You of course can look up all the Mercedes part numbers you want by subscribing to EPC. http://epc.startekinfo.com

The only number that I can see on the EPC is 004-431-04-12 for the complete hydraulic unit. Neither number you listed even lives on the MB price schedule!

I did not find a number close to that one and I wrote every number down from both the module and the pump. That could be the assembly number which probably is not on either of the parts. Dealer only sells the assembly.
