ventalation fan problem on G500

Just recently,I notice a problem with the ventilation fan system. At times when the fan in the ventilation is on when I try to suddenly increase the speed of the fan say from 3 to full or near full the ventilation fan would shut off completely. And at times the fan would turn back on in a few minutes and at times the fan would work again if I stop and restart the car.

It seem like I am overloading the fan when I increase speed of the fan.

Anyone have this happen to their G. any ideas what the problem could be.

thanks

Most likely a faulty electronic blower regulator.

Do you replace the "dust" microfilter every 15-20K miles?

nope filter not replaced unless it is part of A & B service.

nope did not replace the micro filter. Unless it was done as part of the regular A & B service. It has less than 35 K on the G.

Questions:

Could the micro filter be causing the problem?? Some how I don't think this is the cause. I still have very good ventalation blowing when the fan is on. But what do I know?

Also you mention the electronic blower regulator is that something easy to access and check and replace?

thanks

Filter replacement is part of every "B" service. Should be done every 15-20K. More often in areas with sand & dusty conditions.

A plugged micro-filter will cause the blower motor to work harder & that causes the blower regulator to run hotter.

The regulator is somewhat simple to change. Takes a dealer tech less than 45 minutes to change. Under the passenger side under-dash panel.

still trying to fix this problem. Could it be battery?

hello still trying to fix the vent problem. I though I read somewhere that someone had the same problem and they change the battery and the problem when away. I try searching for the thread but cannot find it.

My battery is marginal sometimes show 11.95-11.9 volts but will aways start. Could my vent fand problem be related to the battery??

thanks

Like I suggested before..... Most likely a faulty electronic blower regulator.

System is the same as a W203 C-class.

how do you get to the blower regulator?

Where and how do you get to the blower regulator? I have been able to drop the pannel below the glove box to expose the blower on the passenger side. Am I on the right track.

thanks

Yes, regulator is mounted to the blower motor.
