Bluetooth in a 2001 ML320?

I recently acquired a nice 2001 ML320, and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a bluetooth cellphone adapter for the MCS system used in the 2001? I currently wear Lubix stereo bluetooth headsets when driving, but would welcome a setup that uses the vehicle's audio system.

MB didn't make that available on that year ML, that wasn't available until the newer generation ML was released.

I bought a bluetooth adapter for the newer ML's, plugged it into the RJ-45 socket instead of the phone adapter, and it works fine. It pairs up with both of my bluetooth cellphones ok. So I guess that the only difference with the newer units is the bluetooth adapter itself. One note, though - it doesn't download the contacts list from my PPC-6800 smartphone, but it does download the address list from my Motorola V365. If anyone knows how to get the phone list from my PPC-6800 into the MCS let me know, it appears to maintain separate phone lists for each cellphone.

Part number for the adapter?

Richard,
Do you have a part number, or other info on the bluetooth adapter you bought? My dealer keeps telling me there is no way to hook up bluetooth in my 2000 ML430.
thanks

The little book that came with the adapter says "Mercedes Benz V60 adaptor with Bluetooth wireless technology." I bought it from a guy on Ebay, and he included a cable that plugs directly into the adapter and then into the cable that's prewired up to the head unit, but it will also just plug into the V60 adapter if it's installed in the car. http://wireless4mb.com calls it a V60 bluetooth cradle adaptor, and has it for sale. They also show a list of fully compatible phones on their website, but it will work with any bluetooth phone, but may not download the phone book. I think the dealer price is lower than the price shown on that website, and you may be able to get one on Ebay for less also. Also, you MAY need to update the pse module in your vehicle - I read a post on another website that says the ones with a white sticker don't support the adaptor, and the ones with a blue sticker do. Shouldn't be too hard to find a newer pse module on Ebay.

Need help

Hello Richard! I too have a 2001 ML430 but can you let me know where you found the RJ45 to plug in the V60 Bluetooth adapter? Also, can you elaborate more on the white/blue sticker and PSE upgrade?

Thanks and any direction will be greatly appreciated.

Most of the information you need is here:

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audio-telematics-forum/1313173-how-guide-cell-phone-upgrades-plug.html

The item needed for Bluetooth that's being discussed is commonly called "puck with tail."

Use of this item requires the original 2001 phone system be installed and upgraded if needed for digital replacement of analog.

Bluetooth Installation

Thanks for that LK! I'm looking into going with CRADLE ELIMINATOR CABLE and V60 BLUETOOTH PUCK. I also found the RJ45 (female) under my center console and made it ready (drilled a hole in the center compartment so I can plug in the CRADLE ELIMINATOR CABLE into the RJ45).

Here are my questions:
+ Should I worry about the PSE (blue/white label) still?
+ Which V60 PUCK should I get, the old or the new?
+ I also found another cable along with RJ45 and it looks like an antenna jack (same type of cable that has RJ45 adapter), w hat is that for? Should I be concern about that too?
+ I've seen some people selling them in ebay (CABLE for about $80-90 and V60 PUCK for about $250), do you know of any other online store that has them cheaper?

Thanks again LK.

It's my understanding that the blue label is required to support the bluetooth adapter. The analog/digital doesn't apply because the call is being made through your cellphone. The original phone adapter did have an antenna connection on it, but it was a micro-coax connector. The part number and name of the adapter I purchased is:
"V60 Adapter with Bluetooth" p/n B67875856

Thanks

Thanks again Richard. Yes, the other cable has a micro-coaxial on its end. Going back to the blue label, where can I verify that label?

Cedric

If you lower the panel on the passenger side of the car underneath the glovebox the PES is located on the panel, you should be able to see the unit there - it is a black plastic cased unit, should have either the white or blue label attached.
