Crankshaft seal leaks

How common is it and at what mileage will front crankshaft seal begin to leak. My vehicle is a 1999 ML 320 with about 141K miles.

I just replaced front crankshaft seal on my 1992 300TE with about 140K miles. The is oil leaking in the ML in what looks like the same pattern oil was leaking in the 1992.
