headlight problem

my drivers side headlight does not function, the problem it seems is the part that controls the light function can anyone help me with the name of the computer like devise that tells the light to start? I have xenon headlights.

Best first step is to take out the bulbs and change them side to side to see if the inoperative side now switches to the other side, in which case you know the bulb is bad.
The part you want to know the name of is the ignitor or ignition control module..
