I bought mine at www.************************ for $179.95
Just put them on about three weeks ago. A superb kit! The mounting brackets are powdercoated black and attach between the front bumper bracket and the bumper. It's a OEM-like fit, and has the foglamps located at each end of the front air dam. The wiring harness is of ample length and the connectors just plug in the foglamps and the factory harness (located in front of the windshield washer tank). Again, OEM quality! Note: AAM must be set by dealer in order for units to work. Had mine set a couple weeks before the kit was ordered and it worked fine. Will work with just parking lights on and with headlights, but only when headlight switch is activated. Instructions also show you how to aim them for maximum efficiency. Have yet to try it out in inclement weather though, but lighting seems at least as bright as headlamps.

G-BENZ can find the lamps you are talking about
G-Benz,
Thanks for the information, but I can't find the lamps for 179.95 that you are talking about. The one I am taling about is located at http://shop.store.yahoo.com/cruiserconnection/microde.html Maybe the difference is price is related to the harnest. But for your kit it is just plug in?? That maybe that worth the difference in price. Also did you dealer charge you for activiting it. ben

Since we are on the subject, does anyone know of any comparable driving lights? I have the bulbs in the headlight assemblies that function as fog lights all ready (PIAA Crystal Ion), but would like some driving lights for down below.
I have seen pictures of the PIAA 912 and love them, but can't figure out if it is going to be a pain to mount them. Did you guys mount your lights by drilling through the bumper skin and screwing them to that? If so, do they vibrate? |

blau:
Unfortunately, the website is a bit thin on the inventory...I get their catalogs in the mail, and there are plenty of goodies for the MBs! Still, you can call and ask, and they can tell you what they have (and send you a free catalog to boot)! I took a look at the lights at the URL you posted and they appear to be same units, except the bezel is black, not blue. Also, the hardware has a black satin finish whereas the lamps are gloss black. But they are shown mounted at the same location. I would assume that the kit you are considering contains all of the items that came with the one I purchased, including the wiring harness...hmmm...maybe I paid too much. BTW, the harness is a direct plug-in...no modifications or splicing whatsoever...even at the lamps. My dealer didn't charge me anything to do the activation...the tech even said to bring it back if it didn't work when I got the lights installed, and it would still be N/C. Q: I saw the PIAAs on the link, and the kit only includes those items that allow it to be sold as a universal application...therefore, no brackets, or nice OEM harness...so you would have to fabricate brackets and a connection to the factory harness. The brackets in the Hella kit are attached via the pair of bolts that hold the bumper to each bumper brackets...you can see the bracket if you look inside the front of the wheel well. The Hella bracket is then angled at 90 degrees in an L-shape to orient the lamp mounting position where the cooling slots reside. The lamp has a swivel bracket with a single bolt that attaches to the mounting bracket. It's quite sturdy, as the brackets are 1/4" steel. I've road tested the lights near my home where some road construction is underway, and I've not noticed any vibration being transferred to the lamps. I have the dealer-installed stainless steel brush guards, and there seems to be provisions for foglamp mounting. I don't particularly care to clutter up the looks of the front my ML any further by putting foglights there, so I opted for a more stealthy location for the lamps. Word of caution...if the foglamp set you consider has lamps rated at more than 55 watts, you will blow the aux lamp fuse!
