Old G class as a work truck?

HI

I have an old chevy work truck and I think the engine is blown. I am sick of these old crappy GM diesels. So my wife says just fix it and sell it and buy a good truck. So while scanning the local craigslist for another beater work truck I see a 1982 300GD with 100k miles on it imported from Germany, 2 door. (you can do that legally here in Canada) My mind starts racing, could I use this for a work truck?

Here's what I need it to do. Plow snow, no problem there. Haul some tools, no problem. I need to occaisionally move plywood, would that be possible with the seat down and the door open? I need to move water tanks occaisionally, I guess I would need a trailer.

Any thoughts?

Assuming it's in good mechanical and physical condition (rust). I don't see why not. After all they are work trucks in the Fatherland.
