Suggested ML Tire upgrade???
Hello all-
Did a search here about tire upgrades for the wife's '98 ML320 but didn't find anything. Her supergay General Grabbers are all but bald now @ 45k, and it's time to put some new ones on, like yesterday. We're looking for a slightly beefier, more truck like / less car like tire than the Grabbers. She'll never see any offroading so not too trucky, but not too car-ish like the Grabbers. Basically, a tire that fills the wheel well slightly more with a bit more agressive tread, but one that won't be too noisy or wonder on the road or change the speedo calibratoin. Also, one that won't break the bank like a Michellin, etc. Someone told me the Bridgestone Dueller AT's would be a good upgrade. But then someone else (family member / tire distributor) told me they were garbage and wouldn't sell them to us. What have all your experiences been? Has anyone had any luck in trying to accomplish this same endeavor? HELP!!! Thanks! |
Well, don't have any recommendations, but the other tires that have seen duty on ML's are the Dunlop GranTrek and the Pirelli Scorpion.

Kuan-
Once again and as alwyas, coming through with the clutch info. Thanks, I'd lost that link, it's a good site. I emailed the guy directly. Anyone else have any feedback? This guy did BF Goodrich AT's, 265/75/16's, but is losing 8% torque and speedo / odo accuracy. THANKS! |
Try going to tire & wheel section & asking LUKE from tire rack, as they sell more tires than anyone.

Kumho Ecsta STX's work great with the ML for normal duty even in snow and offroad. Check them out at Tire Rack. They ride better and are quieter than the original tires.
