We just bought a '02 ML55 and am experiencing the flakey fuel gauge after a fillup. Prev owner had the sender ass'y replaced at the dealer few months back due to the same issue.

I've read where some owners have had it fixed four times.

Was there ever a permanent fix for this or, is the replacement pump/sender ass'y the same as the original design?

MB didn't design that fuel system to take an much ethanol % as the gas companies are using today.

Finding and using a fuel station that doesn't use 10% or higher ethanol is a good idea.
