Dash Center Vent Replacement '06 ML - R 350

Looking for some basic instruction for removing and replacing one of the center air vents on the dash of my wife's ML350.

This vent style is used in several late model dash configs.

Thanks in advance for your response!

Update - easy removal and install. took about 5 minutes.

There are 3 latch/clips instide the throat of the vent. Used 3 small screw drivers (3 small center punches would work too) to release the clips at eh same time. with a hook or small allen wrench, grab a vent slat at pull gently. The clips release. The old vents assmebly slides out. Insert new vent and "click" all done

Hey Jeff,

I need to do the same thing to my wife's ML350 (also an 06). The control piece in the center of the vent came unglued/fell apart. Would you happen to have the part number for the vent? It's the (left side) center vent. It's tan in color, which I guess is "Java."

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Don't lose the parts. I removed the vent assembly and was able to cement the control tab back together. I took apart the whole assembly, front bezel and the louvers and piece that controls them. All that was unnecessary and made reassembly a bit challenging.

For ML 350. Have found the clip in the 4 and 8 o'clock position, but can not find the 12 o'clock clip.
Can someone please advise. Thanks.

The part number is 1648302154. The cheapest I found was on ebay, search for the seller roverrecyclers. I ended up being able to fix mine so I did not purchase a replacement.

To remove the vent, you need to release 3 clips with a screwdriver or similar tool and use a plastic trim remover tool to pry the vent out.
