Anyone have 110 and 102 engine or G vehicle weight difference specs?

Looking to compare the weight of a 460 chassis Gwagen with the M110 280 motor vs. the same chassis fitted with an M102 engine (of the 230 E sedan, or 230GE Geleandewagen)

anyone know the engine weights????

It looks like all else being equal (long vs short chassis and same time period vehicles) you end up with the 110 version weighing 75kg more than the 102 engine. The only confusing part about my info is that the 230 from 79-89 was first the 115 motor, then the 102 and no difference is noted in my weight specs. I have no outright specification for the weight of the motor itself.

Mike, I looked on Arnds site and found similar results as Gilly above. I checked SWB and LWB versions against each other and saw a 65kg difference. I would think most of that is actual engine wieght. Things like a larger radiator must be considered though when looking at the entire vehicle wieght.

Thanks G-man,

I ask this peculiar question merely becuase Q has just received a set of springs for his Gwagen, a 230Ge, with the chopped off roof.
The springs gave him a tad more lift than I would like. He had a problem with the driveshaft hitting the trans mount. Fortunately I'm running the 5-sd getrag box and it's mounted different allowing lots of room for more drive shaft angle.

What is in the way is the torsion tube that runs right under the front driveshaft just fore of the transfer case. Q is going to modify his, I'm hoping not to do that.

Therefore by understanding his front axle weight difference from mine I was hoping to recalculate the spring rates to get mine to a 3" lift instead of 3.5" like Q. I think that's what I've got coming from the spring folks.

Good thing is that the springs are not progressive (also a bad thing for Baja or street performance), so I can cut them down should they lift the truck to far. Bandsaw and Dremel to the rescue!

stay tuned (not here, at the g site!)

Dremel??? Take a page from Q, use the 4" angle grinder!

It sure would be cool to get all of you guys up and running for another G gathering. I have been thinking about some additions to my truck. Longer springs ~2" or so, 285/75-16 tires ~33"s a winch and custom bumpers and sliders.

Seeing some of the current asking prices for Europa G500s I may try to squeak into one of those in the next 12 mos or so. Of course I would have to nearly give away my 320 so we will see. I would prefer to make the mods to the 500 rather than swap parts if I change trucks.

I am looking forward to seeing your truck finished. Q gets a little too crazy for me, fun to watch though!
