I am about to purchase a Mercedes van from its owner an 87 year old woman who loves the vehicle but, due to bad knees, just can't get into/out of it the way she used to. In a former life it was a yellow German postal van but has since been painted white and converted to a camper/motorhome.

Because it has been sitting for the last 12 years, all four wheel cylinders are incredibly corroded and need to be replaced.

Does anyone know how to search for truck parts on MB EPC? I've tried entering the VIN with no luck. I've also tried the model designation (309.116) and got nowhere. The Russian site is a little better but doesn't provide part numbers. I believe many of the parts on these vans interchange with Unimogs and/or G-wagons but can't pin down which models apply.

The original wheel cylinders have ATE and the number 5 in the casting. I haven't cleaned them up yet in order to measure the bore.

There are many European forums for these vehicles, many of which point to German, Spanish and French Ebay sites for parts but the factory part numbers seem to be a well kept secret.

By the way~ the original 2.2 diesel (OM615) and 4 speed manual have already been swapped out for an OM617 NA with a 4 speed auto. The body is rough but we got it started and the engine purrs. But I won't know about the drive train until the brake issue is addressed.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

That is freaking awesome!

I'm in Columbus but come up to Toledo periodically, got a lot of friends into cars up there, hopefully I'll catch you out on the road someday.

No help on parts just wanted to inflate your ego.

Is your EPC the US version or the R-O-W version? The answer to that might explain your difficulty.

i just finished subscribing to the epc version which adds trucks, vans, etc. to the us version of cars only.
thanks to Dutch for the heads-up about the different versions. i now have full access to the parts catalogue for my L406D.

It gives you access to parts diagrams and lists for any MB vehicle in the world; and there are a lot of MB models that never are seen in the US.

If you're looking for an English speaking European parts supplier, try www.eurocarparts.co.uk. When I owned my 409d I used to buy parts from them. Patrick was their export guy.

Can anyone help me figure out where and how to subscribe as well!

@Barnumlives;
This is exactly what I am dealing with. I was just gifted a 1974 L 608 D with the OM314 and 5spd. It's brakes and front end are in dire need of some new parts and rebuild. Seems the brake cylinders are frozen up, and the brake lines are in horrible shape. Also, at any speeds above 60Km/hr the front end shakes, I so I am thinking king pins and wheel bearings, but need to look deeper. Also, I would LOVE to get ahold of some other odd parts.

Here is a link to a web album for my 608D restoration project:

https://picasaweb.google.com/105134169960419549999/L608DRestoration?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCPfb04zV1_SESA&feat=directlink

I met this guy this last spring, Jeffery London http://www.jefflondon.net/ He is a very nice little old man, and he supposedly has a very large collection of parts for these vehicles. He is trying to sell them off bulk now, maybe if there are others interested, we could do a group buy. There is an excel sheet downloadable from his site, with a mostly complete list of the parts and quantity he has. LOTS!

Getting a bit overwhelmed... any help, or kind words are appreciated.

Forgetting the brakes and front end for now.. and focusing on tearing out the bad ceiling tiles and dry rot, and investigating how to raise the roof 40cm Summer is FINALLY here in Oregon, and I have lots of work to do!

-Cheers to all from Cascadia

It only works in Windows. I run it in Vmware.

It's poor coding on Snap On's part, it calls some HP libraries that are only on Windows machines... even though it's a Java app.

Can you give me any more info? I would be very happy to be able to access this for help with my 608D restoration.

Yes, I understand that much! But haven't the slightest idea how to implement that on my Mac/OS X machine. Care to share a little more detailed info?

Looking at the VMware website, has only lead to more confusion
