Squeeky Rear Suspension
Gilly,
my friends 98 ML started making this wonderful squeeking noise in the rear when going over bumps / dips in the road. Sounds like sway bar bushings. Any idea what component could be the cause? Is there a common problem with the early ML's? Thanks.

Kevin:
Yes, the rear shocks have been a pretty common cause, relatively sure that's what it'll end up being. Seem to happen in spells. we'll get a bunch of them, then won't see any for a number of months. Gilly

Kevin:
The only tricky part is the 3 nuts on the top of the assembly. You either need: A) to remove the spare tire carrier assembly and only marginal tricky tools, or B) Leave the spare tire carrier installed and have really tricky tools, like a ratcheting wrench with an offset. Gilly
