ml320 power steering very light after servicing

Well I serviced the power steering because of a leak at the reservoir o ring. Followed instructions by jacking vehicle, Mercedes oil,and 30 plus complete lock to lock turns.I used a suction tube to remove bubbles and kept filling a littleat a time a little messy but now it's so smooth to turn. I mean with a finger did I do something wrong because it seems really easy to turn.I know this might sound strange asking this but it did seem harder to turn or more resistance shall I say to turn the wheel.

Maybe the steering is NOW working as it was designed to work?

speed sensitive steering is designed to be very easy to turn at low speeds & then get "stiffer" at higher speeds for a better road feel.

I have a 99 ML 320 with 270,000 miles and a power steering leak. Even though I had the the pump and reservoir replaced at 230,000 miles I have to top it off every couple of weeks.

The steering never seems light enough to turn the wheel with a single finger, even at idle or low speed. I suspect there is air in the circuit. Where did you find the purging instructions you mention above? Can you describe the purging procedure in more detail or point me to a resource?
