Programming Remotes
I'm a newbie in this forum.
I have not used my remote on my wife's ML 430 for a long time and didn't realized the batteries went dead. When I put in new batteries the remote does not work anymore. Does anyone has instructions how to re-program a remote? Thanks. |
It's in the book. I had to do it after taking my remote for a swim. Took out the battery and let it dry for several days. After putting it back together, I had to reprogram mine. It was quite easy. Wish I remembered the steps.

You might have one of the early ones with transponder problems. Either that or you may just have had to resynchronize the remote.

Thanks for your replies.
I looked at my owner's manual and I could not find any remote programming instructions. I have an early 99 production ML 430, could that be the reason? I would appreciate it if anyone who has the programming instructions to post it, please. Thanks again. |
OK, look in the index in the back of the owners manual, the alphabetical index.
Look under "Remote control, synchronizing", I'm sure it's in there. I encourage everyone trying to do this to refer to the owners manual. I do this quite often, there are about 3 different ways of synchronizing the remotes, it's best to look in the owners manual and find the proper way for your vehicle. Gilly |
Thank you, Gilly. I will look closely to the owner's manual.
I read most of your replies in the forum and they are very informative and precise. You, as well as other MB techs & members, are really providing valuable information, expertise and experience to the group. I salute all of you for your contributions. |
I second that!
