eBay parts scam - aux water pump for ML350

This guy is selling VW/Audi auxiliary water pumps as if they were the MB version. Though the parts are nearly identical, the hose fittings are slightly smaller on our cars.

The correct part number for MB runs over $200, so people think they are getting a deal. Yes, the VW/Audi version will work, but buyers should be aware they can get that themselves for $90 without being ripped off by this guy, who's selling it for $159:

Check your part numbers & packaging for anything you buy from eBay suppliers.

Isn't the electrical connector different as well?

Nope - exactly the same, at least for my 2004 it was.

I bought one of the VW/Audi parts and swapped out the old water inlet/outlet fitting from the MB part it was replacing and presto - I have the exact same thing that Bosh would like to sell me for $200+

That guy on eBay knows these parts are cut from the same cloth and that MB charges more because they are MB, so he's pulling a fast one on unsuspecting people who can make this swap themselves.

Auxiliary Water Pump

Gil, would the Bosch 0392020039 pump work without changing the water ports? Just wondering because I have the same issue and don't mind purchasing a pump for $85 vs. $300 if it's the same part... Thanks!

I bought this exact item from this guy back in mid-April. It work perfectly. I just swapped it out. No problems what so ever. I have a 2002 ML320.

In fact, he accidentally sent me a second unit 3 weeks later. I sent him a note and I forwarded the pump to someone in Florida. Obviously, he sent it to the wrong person.

Sorry to just see this now. Yes it will work but it will work even better if you swap out the fittings from the pump you are replacing. Other than the inlet and outlet size being just slightly larger on the non-MB designated part, the pumps are exactly the same.

I'm sure it did, but he still ripped you off. That part should sell for much less. He sells a VW/Audi designated part as if it were the higher priced MB variant. A total bottom feeder.
