Unimogs street legal?
The other day, I saw what looked like a Unimog driving through Falls Church, VA and wondered if they are typically street legal, because I know a lot of them are used by the military, construction industry, etc, where they may not require a license plate like a regular car or truck.
Who has one and what has your experience been? |
They can be street legal over here though more often than not given a speed restriction as they are (more often than not) classified as agricultural.

I know of two mogs owned by a guy that runs a headliner repair shop and he has regular florida tags on it.
But this is an awesome state with no inspections or smog checks |
Yes, usually street legal around here but honestly too slow to be driven on the street (old ones had a max speed around 50mph)

Thomas, you have but to ask me... :) Mine is licensed and insured. It has a plate but I don't have to display it since it's an "antique". I just carry the plate around with me in a pocket in the passenger's door.

See also Volvo Pinzgauer, kind of like a old VW bus.
