Transmission and t-case for 67 Land Rover OM617 swap

Hello Guys, I'm dropping a 617 into my 67 Series 2a Short Wheel Base . The problem i have is that the stock tranny is not strong enough for the engine and will break eventually.
I'm trying to figure out if i could get a Mercedes transmission/t-case combo that would fit in the limited space i have there. Current transmission and case are 27'' but i think i could find 3 maybe even 4'' on top of it.
