W163 for work?
I'm using my R-class for work and I'm destroying the interior. So I was thinking of getting a work "truck". My requirements being something I fit in(tall) and 4WD since I sometimes go up in the snowy mountains. Ford trucks are either hammered or expensive(over 5k), or 250k miles.
So I got to thinking about an older ML. If I took the rear seats out I could load up with tools and supplies. It can tow if I need too and has AWD. I fit in them and they are relatively safe. I've always liked that the w163's are actual trucks on a truck frame. I would also like to be able to hop up on/over 6-8" curbs, can't do that with the R-class. Any thoughts? |
your right about being a truck, 4x4 goes in snow as good as any, curbs might be hard on front plastic

I have a ML430 with 200K and it is awesome for work. Put a rack on it to carry ladders. etc. Works great. Best part cost me less than $3000 with a few repairs included to pass inspection. Well worth it and I am maintaining it as I go.

Beat the hell out of my lifted ML430.
Thing was a tank and did awesome in damn near any terrain. |
