Size is important

What are the dimensions in inches of the rear load area on a new Mog?Also what is the maxium weight these vehicles will carry?Bear

All MB gives in the brochure is cargo capacity, which is 45.2 cu ft, or 79.5 cu ft with the rear seats folded.
Towing capacity is 7000 lb with a class III hitch. Is this what you were after?

Found another entry in the brochure (Day 92, for those who have a brochure).
overall height 72.3"
overall width 69.3"
overall length 183.5"
"Want more room? Rent a moving van." it says.

All I can find in the book is towing capacity.
The curb weight is 5,423 lb, so if you can find what the GVWR is.......

Howdy Bear,
I will have to look around but the minimum weight that a Mog is rated is 1.5 ton. Do you have a specific model in mind?¿

Gilly 07-12-2002 09:34 AM

Y'know Bear, this should be in the owners manual. We may have a reference owners manual (one we use so the owners personal copy doesn't get all dirty) in the shop, I'll look.

Thank's for going to all this trouble for me.The Ranger is coming to the end of it's lease and I'm trying to talk my guv'nor round to a mog.Frank I don't have a specific model in mind, but we only ever buy new trucks not secondhand one's.Bear

G-Benz 07-12-2002 05:05 PM

If that water tank is going to be full, that's already about 2400 lbs. + whatever the water tank weighs empty!

Oops...sorry, that's 5280 Kg for you Brits!;)

Bear 07-12-2002 05:18 PM

Might have to go for a smaller tank then.Don't worry about measurements in pounds, feet or inches I'm more comfortable with them anyways.Bear

Howdy Bear,
If you are looking at a new Mog you are looking at the U300/400/500 which for a chassis and cab will be $80,000USD. I think you will be able to get it for a little less.
Look at the 406/416 trucks. They are rated at 6,000lbs carrying weight. Also you can look into newer models like the 1300 and they are a big truck and carry even more. If my math is right 300x8=2,400. I think there are about 2.2 lbs. to 1Kg which would make the weight of the water 1090Kg. You will be well within the capacity of any Mog you decide on. You can even carry your ice chest with no problem :D

Bear 07-12-2002 06:41 PM

Thanks Frank, but how'd you know about my drinks cooler:D

Frank X. Morris 07-12-2002 06:49 PM

Howdy Bear,
You got to be kidding!¡ Anything named "Bear" has to have a BIG thirst to go along with a BIG appetite:D And so the need for the Mog:D

Bear 07-12-2002 06:52 PM

Damn the secret's out:D :D :D

Frank X. Morris 07-12-2002 06:58 PM
