Is Bose on by default on '02 ML ?
 

I read from the other forum that the BOSE stereo has to be activated by the dealer on ML equipped with such. Is this true ? You can also have the dealer programmed the MCS to say "Powered by BOSE" upon power up ?

The "powered by BOSE" on the MCS isn't really "linked" to the fact that it has BOSE or not. If it is equipped with BOSE it should say it on the faceplate, yes. The dealer, using the diagnostic computer, can activate the faceplate to say this, or remove it. If they activate it in the faceplate, but it doesn't has the BOSE system, you still don't have BOSE. If they turn it off, but you have BOSE, you still have BOSE. It is a display option only. On an 02, they can also switch from the grey background to the old blue (irritating) background. Only on 02 and newer though, 2000 and 01 are stuck with the blue background.
