Unhappy ML320 Window toggle switch dead

This morning, my wife’s ML 320’s drivers side window stopped working. I drove over and thought that it might be a fuse.
I checked all the fuses and they were fine. The motor only seemed to click when you pushed the down button. When you try to raise the window, no noise. I thought it might have been the toggle switch, but I ended up breaking the black plastic cover to get inside. I still couldn’t get it lifted and as a last ditch effort(and because theres a 80% chance of rain today), I went by the dealership. He was able to stick a long piece of plastic in and raise the window easily.

My question is, can I buy just the replacement toggle switch? Or, is there something that can easily be added to fix? The technician told me that I would have to replace the entire board...since all the windows are on one switch, including the rear view mirrors...that sounds awful expensive and drastic since the only window is the drivers, and its obviously just the switch that’s bad since he was able to work the window...Also, if I do have to buy the entire circuit board, how hard is it to replace? Can I do it myself, or is it too complicated to go it alone on this one...? Thanks for your help.

The console window switches are prone to failure.

There is a thread about this one in the ML forum.

I jinxed myself by reading the thread, since I had the driver's side switch go bad the next day.

The dealership said they would just replace the bad switch(s), but I insisted they do the whole set. So I would assume based on their offering that they could just replace the switches individually.

The whole switch has to be replaced as a unit, but is less money than some single switches. Listed for around $45 the last I checked.

thanks for the info.

Thanks for your help guys. I guess if I can replace all of them for around $45, that isnt a bad deal...now the question is....how hard is it to get in to change out the board? Has someone changed these out before? I would really like to do it myself...Oh, my wife asked me to ask youse guys about another "problem" she has with her
ML.

But I will post that under a new thread to make sure it gets a little more exposure.

Thanks again!

Very detailed instruction, but I don't think you need to remove gear shift knob.
