These are unrelated.
The wrench symbol followed by the number (probably a negative number, ie -14100) means that the truck is 14100 miles past due date on the next service interval.
The truck won't display diagnostic trouble codes in the instrument cluster.

Gilly,

You are soo right. My friend is in seventh heaven when I had the engine check light reset(battery disconnect). I did caution them to get the vehicle serviced though and when the check light comes on again to have it checked out.

Just because it's display the -14100 doesn't mean "no" service work has been done. It may have even been dealer serviced and they forgot to reset it, but more than likely it's just being taken to Jiffy Lube or someplace and they don't know how to reset it.

Gilly,
They did indicate to me that they did have the vehicle for a service about 14 months ago but could not tell me whether it was for an A or B service. The mileage - counter must have been there all along and they did not notice it till the check light came on and thought it was related. I am ignorant to it as I have my S430 (And older now sold S500) serviced very retentive.

Thanks again so much for the info and so quick.

Deon.

If it really is 14000+ miles overdue, they would automatically do a B service anyways, no matter what the last service was.

Gilly,

You amaze me. Thanks.

Roughly what is the cost for a B. I know on my S500 it ran around
$635.00 depending on what it needed. (The S430 is still covered on the maintenance free deal so I have no idea.)

Deon.
