SRS light stays on
 

2000 ML320. Intermittently, upon starting the car, there has been a strange buzz/beep that does not sound like a buzzer or beeper should sound (I know, sounds dumb). Anyway, it did it the other day for about a minute straight and the SRS light never went off. I wish I could identify the sound better, but it just doesn't sound like something that should be making noise at all. It's kind of a sickly buzz/beep.

Anyone had experience with this?

I've got it slated for an appointment on the 5th. I have also had to report a door lock actuator making noise, rear door glass popping in its track when rolled up, and driver door glass rattling in frame when half way down.

I have a 99 ML 320 and a few years ago my SRS light stayed on too; although I had no buzz/beep noise. It turned out the SRS Control Module went bad and had to be replaced. Luckily it was replaced under warranty as I understand the part is costly.

No idea about the buzzer noise.

The SRS light staying on could be lots of things. The SRS control module that Ron had the problem with is rare.

More common items is/are: The sensor pad in the right seat for the ACSR (Babysmart sensor).
Switches in the seat belt buckles
Squib (connectors) in the side airbags.
Clockspring (spiral connector) for the drivers airbag.

I had this problem last winter with my 2000 ML430. Dealer in Clearwater, FL tried to tell me the light stayed on because of my cellphone. When I got back to Ohio in the spring my local dealer said it was the right seat sensor pad. It was replaced under warranty and hasn't caused any problems since.

I've heard it's possible that something like a cell phone laying on the right seat can mess with that ACSR sensor. But mostly the sensors are junk.

Turned out to be an Air Bag gone bad. They diagnosed the buzzing to the blower motor in the ventalation system. Not so sure about that diagnosis, as the two seemed related. Could have been a coincidence.

They tightened up everything in both doors and put off the door lock actuator saying they didn't hear it. Ugh! What do I have to do....set up my camcorder??

Feeling damn glad I went ahead and bought the extended warranty after all.
