I bought one of these "training" CD's on ebay a while back. While interesting, there's not much practical repair information in there.

Lenny,

What you indicated is what I was kind or thinking. So in other words it's not a workshop manual.

Is a factory workshop manual available yet.

Factory ML workshop manuals aren't even available in factory workshops......

They use a computer-based resource known as WIS. Of course you can print out instructions, which is very handy for messy jobs, just use it and toss it.

You can also as a individual "rent" WIS according to your chassis number, I believe MB does it by the day, month and year. It's a little pricey, I think by the day it's $20, but then you can stock up on paper and printer cartridges and print away for 24 hours, or maybe it can be saved on another computer format?

I know there is a link on Mecedesshop somewhere, I'll see if I can find it....

Here's the prices, looks like maybe you can access any info you want, not just one vehicle type, but check it out before you buy anything:

Has anyone tried the Star Tek yet? I'm inclined to do so next time I face a particularly daunting task, but no sooner. I have a failed exhaust manifold gasket to tackle this weekend, but I expect this to be pretty much a no-brainer.

How about those too-good-to-be-true, non-factory repair CD's that you find on ebay?

The training CD is nothing at all like a workshop manual.

I actually bought one for doing my brakes - being the level I am at (non-car mech) I found it interesting and of good quality. I "bought the knowledge" to do a specific job- which will save me over the years!

However this is one cd for one job. Nothing could beat the factory service manual I have on CD which is designed to show the dealers how to do the jobs they charge piles of folding for !
