Topping off OIL
I just purchased by ML320 one month ago. It has another 4500 before the FSS. The oil light came on so I topped it off with some synth. oil. I was able to determine the last oil change used Pennzoil Syntec, however I couldn't determine the weight. I was unable to find Pennzoil, so I topped it with 1Qt of Mobile Synthetic 5W30.
Is it a problem that I used a different oil and possibly a different weight? does anyone think I should go ahead and get the oil changed? Thx, Scottie

The different brand oil is no problem. The (perhaps) different wgt. oil is no problem. HOWEVER,the 5w30 Mobil1 is NOT recommened for extended oil changes. If you stay with Mobil1, yoy should use 0w40 per MB. Go to your dealer to get a list of approved oils, etc. That said, if you plan to change your oil in 4500mi or less, I wouldn't worry about it. Just my opinion.
