I just went through this with my 2000 BMW 540i. I was top bidder on a wide screen complete console and Nav unit. I happened to get a email from some kind soul that pointed me to a site put up by someone that showed the whole job, what a site. Only thing was the job started by gutting the car (should have seen the pictures) as the cabling WASN'T there as I had thought it was.

Luckily my $1900 bid didn't reach the reserve as I'm not up for that conversion. I recieved an email afterwards that I could have the kit at my bid, but I was informed by then and I also wouldn't trust the kind of deal I would of had to do off ebay.

Anyway, it is also my concept that your car is wired, but after my episode I wouldn't take my opinion as fact. I found confirming info with a search on roadfly. There is probably confirming posts here in the archives or in the audio forum of this site.

I do know a guy with a 2002 ML that bought a Nav set on ebay and it was plug and play after it was programmed. In his case the wiring was there. I will state that as fact.

The wiring is all there. There is a place on the rear of the roof for the GPS antenna, and it's all wired too, but the antenna is kind of pricey. You may want to try finding installation instructions for the 2000 ML Nav system.

There are 2 different GPS units available, the original one is CD ROM based, and the newer one is DVD based. They both install the same and will work no problem. The DVD is better I think because you only need 1 map disc for the whole USA.
