St Peter and the Vatican - the Legacy of the Popes

If you happen to be in the San Diego area, I recommend to go see the display at the San Diego Museum of Arts. It is the first time Vatican brought these artifacts to America, and the show goes on till Sept.

I am not a religious man by any means but find the display very informative. The jewelries are just unbelieveable. One of the largest emerald in the world is actully sitting on top of a pope's tiara. I can only imagine how much treasure is bury in the depths of Vatican vault.

I'd like to see the audited balance sheet and income statement of the vatican more than anything else.

Consider this, if one is a practicing Catholic who goes to church and puts money on the plate, does it make that person somewhat of a 'shareholder' of the 'church'? If that's the case, is he not entitled to get some sort of annual report from the vatican as to their financial condition?

I get annual reports from my stocks and mutual funds. What's the diff?

When I put money in the basket I'm giving it to the Church.

So the money I give belongs to the Church, not me.
Hence, I don't need to see a report about what is no longer mine.

That's how this practicing Catholic sees it!

I saw it when it was in Cincy. I'd highly recommend it to any art lover not just catholic.

as to the balance sheet. Vatican is a sovereign country so good luck on that unless you think we ought to invade them too...

When in Rome...., go see the Vatican Museum close to St. Peter. It's phenomenal, and not only the Sixteenth Chapel BTW. Long waiting lines, though...
