Viagra Good For Something Else
German researchers have confirmed that the erectile dysfunction medication, Viagra, also protects mountain climbers’ lungs from problems associated with high altitude, such as pulmonary hypertension which can be triggered by a lack of oxygen. Research was conducted on climbers at Mount Everest.
The researchers said the penis and the lungs both share a biochemical similarity. Both the penis and the lungs have lots of phospodiesterase, this is an enzyme which constricts blood vessels in the lungs. Viagra (sildenafil) stops the enzyme from working, the result being better erections and blood supply to the walls of the lungs. Membership in the "Mile High Club" is expected to skyrocket. |

Isn't that kind of what it was used for in the first place? Then they found out it just happened to have this other side effect? That's where Rogaine (for hair growth) came from. It was some kind of heart medication, then they found those using it were getting all kinds of wierd hair growth. I had a doctor friend back in the 80's that said he and few of his other doctor buddies were taking the rogaine tablets, crushing them up and making a paste, and rubbing on their brain-pan well before it was sold for such use. :D
