For all you people who hate EGR
Just thought I'd fill you all in on a feture of the new 272 engine (quad cam V6). They have finally done away with the EGR valve that we've all learnt to hate (or disconnect ). The cams now have enough adjustment that they can overlap enough to draw exhuast gas back into the engine though the exhaust valve during cruise to give the effect of a conventional EGR system...........Just something I thought a few of you might like to know

More specs on the 272:
It's gone back to a DOHC (4v/cylinder) setup and all four cams are adjustable (which is why the EGR system is no longer needed). Has variable intake and swirl flaps at certain partial load situations to disturb airflow and provide a better mixture of air and fuel. No longer has utilize oil level/quality sensors, no FSS and 13000 mi/service intervals. Dipsticks are back!!! 2 cams are chain driven, the other two are gear driven. Just some little snippets of info. We'll see how this one holds up. |
