My shortest employment ever...

well, I lasted just 2 days at a well-known national music equipment retailer. My first-ever job in sales and I'm not ashamed to say I couldn't hack it.
I just couldn't get with the sales-technique, esp. after 8 years doing a job where I was often my own boss and/or working on my own. 2 days at this and I knew it just wasn't me- useless at dealing with the public and I knew I'd end up doing a half-arsed job.

Now, how do I go about explaining that to the wife?

you call two days "short"? I've been blown out of jobs in hours. I had a phone sales job in college that lasted an hour. For some reason I just got all mush mouthed and couldn't talk. The guy looked at me and said "son, not everyone was meant to be a truck driver"

Ive had at least two jobs that I figured out that I was wrong for and I didn't return after lunch.

If you have never had a sales job and they just threw you on the floor without any training odds are you weren't going to make it anyway. Best to leave early and avoid the misery. Their fault, not yours.

Good luck in your next endevor.
