Anyone without a cell phone?
After reading Stefano's thread on cell phone plans, a question came to mind.
Is there anyone here who doesn't have a semi-permanent plastic/metal ear growth? If not, why not? I don't have one, and never had. At this point, I simply can't justify having one from a $$ standpoint (I will admit that not having an electronic leash is nice at times)...although, after I move out on my own, I may get one and not bother with a landline, depending on price differences... |

cell phone? what's that?
I don't have one. I thought about getting one instead of a land line but at this time it's not economical for me to do that... besides i really don't have a need to talk to peeps whenever/wherever.... I really don't need it and I have other wants.... for another I just can't stand drivers talking on their phones... |

Don't have one. Don't want one. I'm just not that important. Nor do I want to be.

I'm in between. We have one, but it's a pre-pay-for-your-minutes type. We just activate it for use on trips. The rest of the year it gets lost in the house.

I was the last kid on my block to get one and now I don't know what I did without one. They are great for traveling, you can do something while waiting in the security lines at the airport, and its a lot cheaper than a hotel phone. They are great for shopping for my wife. And I can annoy my family using up my free minutes during my daughters gymnastics practice.
A work story: During the cold war there was a concern about security and computers radiating secret information so some buildings were shielded. The cold war ended and cell phones became popular and employees got them. Then they found out how good the shielding worked. |

I avoided getting one for a long time but ended up getting one last summer. The thing is I don't always want people to call me so I always leave it in my glove box. It will be nice if I ever break down.

A nice thing about cell phones is that have an "Off" button.
Note: if you keep one for emergency uses only and don't have many emergencies you check the batteries. |

Never owned one and don't want one.
However, my wife has let me know she would like one for Christmas. I don't know yet if she'll get it. My teenage daughter thinks we need one too so it's hard holding the line.

I don't have one either, although I have had one before but didn't have A real need for it, my girlfriend has one so if we do go on A trip were covered. I have A land line and thats enough. Have you ever noticed people with cell phones just milling around looking at their phone waiting for someone to call them, or thinking of someone to call to ocupy their time, cause they couldn't dare be alone for two minutes, or they just want to be entertained, pretty sad

I didn't have one until four or five years ago, when I needed one to be on call for work (work also subsidized my phone plan). Can't be without one now. Wow, I feel like such a yuppie.

Cell phones..hmm.you guys should come down to KL to hear the ring tones here, it will probably drive you nuts
Asian love their gadgets, and cell phones are a status symbol. Unfortunately, I had to get one, but at least my admirers can call me to irritate me It is useful for emergencies, I have had two occasions where I had to call the cavalry to recover a broken Mitsubishi 4x4 Mostly, it is used to talk to my wife in the US, I can sit in my car and have a very private conversation....
