Annoying holiday songs

'Tis the season... for annoying holiday songs! They will be played far and wide, in every store, and on every TV and Radio.

I've been known to flee a store when "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" comes on. I'm convinced it was Paul McCartney's repayment to Satan for his earlier success. It would make a good soundtrack song for a teletubbies movie for children confined to Hell. This year, just for my pleasure, a local radio station has chosen this audio swill as the background music for a TV ad. Dah!

A few years ago when I was still in the shop, there was a radio station that started in on XMas music right after Halloween. The dipstick teamleader played that station ALL the way through Christmas. THAT year any Christmas music after work was pretty much banned when I could control it (listened to CD's on the car mostly, unless i went to a news-format station).
I can probably pick out some least-favorites later. Gramma Got Run Over By A Reindeer is high on the list (of bad songs). It was funny when it was new, but gets tiresome.
"Daddy Looked Alot Like Santa" by Buck Owens I like.

I always cringe when I hear or see a Neil, Barry or Barbra "Christmas" CD.

Felis Navidad/I wanna wish you a merry xmas (excuse spelling if it's wrong!) was a new one introduced to me when I moved over here. Couldn't get that bloody irritating song out my head the whole xmas period, but secretly wanted to hear it too so I could annoy my wife singing it.

Back in the UK we had some pretty good (i.e just about bearable) xmas songs that they roll out every year. Sorry about Paul McCartney though, we think he's the walrus too...

The best xmas cd imho is Phil Spector's 'A Christmas Gift For You'.

Actually, I LIKE the Paul McCarney song! Sorry folks.

But every year we are bombarded with yet another budding artist who feels like their career isn't complete unless they throw in a Christmas ditty...or a whole freakin album!

Jessica Simpson for one! Yikes!

My grandfather had a Jim Neighbors christmas album- not too bad really...

I forgot another two that I can't take:
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth and
I saw mommy kissing santa claus

*shudder*

I don't mind the Paul McCartney one either. Not ALL Christmas season, it's OK though. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (Brenda Lee?)really "got" to me that one "season from Hell" in the shop. Yeah, the Bob and Doug Mackenzie 12 Days of Christmas gets old after awhile for sure.
A few more I like are "Run Run Rudolph" by Chuck Berry, "Sleighride" by The Ventures (surf intrumental, very cool), and also a narration (more or less) by Johnny Cash called "Christmas As I Knew It", very touching, something I can relate to.

Pheobe Buffet

Went to the store, sat on Santa's lap.
Asked him to bring my friends all kinds of crap.
He said, "all you need is to write them a song."
Now you haven't heard it yet, so don't try to sing along.
So don't sing along.
Monica, Monica, have a happy Hanukkah.
Saw Santa Claus, he said hello to Ross.
And please tell Joey Christmas will be snowy.
And Rachel and Chandler, [mumbles some nonsense that rhymes with "Chandler"].
Happy holidays everybody!

Adam Sandler's Hannukah Song

It's time for Hanukkah
So much fun-uka
To celebrate Hanukkah
Hanukkah is, the festival of lights
Instead of one day of presents
We get eight crazy nights
When you feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree
Here's a list of people who are Jewish
Just like you and me
David Lee Roth lights the menorah
So does James Concord Douglas, and the late Dina Shora
Guess who eats together, at the Carnegie Deli?
Bowser from Sha NaNa and Arthur Fonzerelli
Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half, too
Put them together, what a fine looking Jew
You don't need Deck that Halls or Jingle Bell Rock
'Cuz you can spin a dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock
Both Jewish!
O.J. Simpson, not a Jew
But guess who is, Hall of Famer Rod Carew
We got Ann Landers, and her sister Dear Abby
Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish,
NOT TOO SHABBY!!!!
Some people think that Ebenezer Scrooge is
Well he's not, but guess who is
ALL THREE STOOGES!!!!
So many Jews are in showbiz
Tom Cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is
Tell your friend Veronica
It's time to celebrate Hanukkah
Don't forget your harmonica
On this lovely, lovely Hanukkah
Smoke your marijuana-ka
So drink your gin and tonic-ka
If you really, really, really wanna-ka
Have a happy, happy, happy, happy, Hanukkah
Happy Hanukkah
