It is a Christian holiday, and as such there is nothing political about it. Anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God can go about their business as usual today - and also on Easter - just as they do the other 363.

Merry Christmas,

Mark

I hope everyone realizes that this thread is a tongue in cheek stab at the heathens that would take Christ out of Christmas. It was inspired by a TV show last evening in which Christmas stories were told without using the word 'Christ' and Santa was referred to as "Holiday Figure".

Well, the Christians have kind of made it that way for the last 1500 years. Christianity is a great way for the rich to tel the poor to ignore their miserable lot in this world, because their reward will come in the next.

As far as I am concerned, Christains can do whatever they like, as long as it is not on public property.

I'd love to stay and chat, but we're off to the patriarch's house for our annual December 25th celebratory reunion and feast. We will all stand in silence with our heads bowed while one of the deacons in the clan graces the table and recaps the past years triumphs and losses, then prays for hope and health in the new year. The last words are always predictable though, "In Christ's name we ask, Amen". Bless you all.

Perhaps they are just exercising their right as free individuals to say whatever the heck it is they want to say, and not giving a rats ass whether other people think its crap or not. Happy holidays.

"Christ" means "the anointed one" --- not God. One can say Merry Christmas whether or not one believes Jesus to be God. We celebrate Martin Luther King's birthday, and nobody believes he is God. So whether or not you believe Jesus is God, you can still realize that he had a lot of important things to teach --- things that we'd all be wise to review and follow today!

So regardless of your beliefs, Merry Christmas to you.

Thanks,
Richard

Jesus said he is God, and God said Jesus is His Son. Believe Him or don't, it's your choise. Although we get a day off in recognition of Martin Luther King, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln, neither God nor they ever made such a statement.

Merry Christmas,

Mark
