Did you get what you want?

Got Etta James' Best Hits and Kill Bill volume one sound track, along with various clothing and accessories. Also lucky to get another year of healthy, safe living for My wife and I, and our families,,,, life is good.

Sure did.

As a family gift, we bought a an iMac G5. Love it, love it, love it. We special ordered it with everything - the biggest hard drive Apple sells (250 megabytes), 1 gig of RAM, the Superdrive (DVD, DVDR, CD, CDR), bluetooth w/ wireless keyboard and mouse, and wireless internet card built in.

My only personal gift from my wife was an iPod holder that straps onto my wrist for when I go running.

We have twin babies that are now 15 months old, and they got a ton of books, toys, and a red Radio Flyer wagon.

Yup, I got to spend the holidays with my family, albeit we did have our Christmas a week early to do so.

As for the gifts, nobody asked me what I wanted, and I doubt that I could have come up with a list if they had. That said, I got some tools, a zippo lighter with a wolf's head painted on it even though I don't smoke, a pocket watch, a maglight flashlight set, a cheesey walkman like radio thing where you get to guess what station you are one due to no display, some really neat outdoor thermometers that stick to the window, and some kitchen utensils. I also bought a 10,000,000 candlepower flashlight because, well, I thought it was wickedly excessive for a flashlight and therefore needed, some lumberjack looking flannel shirts, the latest Gorge Carlin book, and some landscaping path lights for myself. Furniture will be bought in a couple of days.

I got living room furniture. Two couches, one leather, one cloth, and a big chair. I guess that's what I wanted. I thought I wanted a couple CD's, a new car stereo or maybe a video game but obviously the wife knows me better than I know myself

But all in all a good holiday, we had our office party at a sushi joint, got a private room and had lots of sake with good friends till late into the night, went to the in laws and spent christmas with family.

Thank god it's over.

We cut waaay back on the whole gift thing this year. With the family growing thru kids getting married and all, it just got too hard to keep up. So we all agreed to just focus on the immediate members of the family, and then to draw names so we only have to worry about one family member's gifts. mMde it much more relaxed and enjoyable. We just focused more on visiting, and remembering what the day is really about.
Long story short, yes. I got what I wanted

With the kids left in the house being older and having no relatives here since we moved from TX - we concentrated on a "family gift" - still having the gift opening which was not big ticket items but more needed essentials or something special.
The family gift was a Hitachi 55" Plasma TV

I never really get what I want. So I spend the rest of the year shopping for myself to make up for it.
