I'm sick as a dog so I spent the day laying on the couch watching the BJ all day. My wife hates me but a fine day. I thought that was a nice car but liked the 220 that ran accross.

I liked the '57 300 Cabriolet (the black one with red interior), went for about 1/4 million as I recall. It was right before the red Gullwing, which I don't really remember seeing a red gullwing before, always (usually) silver or the occasional black one. The thing that struck me was when they said the 300 Cabriolet was more expensive than the Gullwing back in the day. WOW! Sure was a cool car. They said they (these cabriolets) usually go back to Germany where they are very popular, only about 50 of them were made back in '57, and in the US they were more expensive than a house, which I guess you still see cars today more expensive than houses (depending on your taste in houses, naturally).

I think they showed that yesterday to get us all excited about the upcoming event later this month.

Take a close look at the conversion of the gull wing with the 103 engine. Someone did a VERY GOOD job with that conversion. Sure, it is lowering the value of a gull wing but I'll bet it makes a very good car (driver) for these modern times.

This makes me remember to ask: Anyone remember seeing the site for the place out west (Pacific Northwest I believe) that made Gullwing replicas with modern(ish) MB drivelines? I remember hearing/reading about one with an M119 in it, this would have been 5 or so years ago.

I had to go look at the engine shot for a third time to see the square tube chassis versus the original round tubing race frame. Good looking replica.
