Is it possible that terrorist are trying to influence us over the net?

Is this possible? How do we really know who is on the other end? Up for grabs. Thanks!

How does one define "influence"? Are we to assume people can be "brainwashed" or something? As far as I am concerned, anyone can post whatever they want. Ophrah or Ossama. I'll read it all and use my own judgement.

Isn't it a little bit interesting that the American way is all about free thought and expression but the nature of Islam is not about free anything, it is about supression and religous states/religious politics? Anyone that has studies Islam would know this. Isn't it interesting in the least that when free thinking people on something as silly as an internet forum give their opinions or offer to discuss open topics, that they are immediately personally attacked as if they are being somehow morally judged by someone considering themselves a higher moral authority.

This may be totally off base but is worth discussion considering the dilemna our country is currently in and the fight against freedom of thought and life in every way, no?

The answer to your question can only be "yes" since it is such a wimpy question. Anything is possible, right? Could the terrorists be trying anything? I guess so.

I have no problem trying to discuss nearly any hypothetical topic, but the hypothesis has to have some basis and boundaries that define it well enough to test it. This one doesn't. Jim

We need the code dechipered here. What is your definition of "being attacked"? That seems to translate to someone disagreeing with you. And what is "influence"? That seems to be a code for posting opinions counter to yours. And how are you being "surpressed"? Are you getting PM's threatening you or something? Feel free to post whatever you want, man, nobody is stopping you - and I shall do the same. If you feel "surpressed" because someone may post back something that makes you feel uncomfortable, you should stick with the AM radio call in shows, where everyone will agree with you.

Thanks for your contribution Jim. The answer is yes, no or not sure. It is simply a poll and nothing personal to anyone - why all the whining, lol.

Didn't think it was whining. I voted yes, then tried to point out the question was kind of a meaningless question. Like "Is it possible that the Earth might be round?" or "Is it possible that people somewhere might be doing things that are sneaky and suspicious?" I see someone answered "no" to the question and wonder how they got to that answer, since the question really left no room for anything but "yes" and by doing so rendered the question meaningless.

What is the point? If you didn't want comments, maybe you should have clarified that in your introduction of the question. Jim

Thanks for your comments Jim. I am sure it can be analyzed and looked at in many different ways. Perhaps try not to overthink the poll. Next time I will try to be more careful. There will always be someone to complain about the poll I guess. When I posted it I thought of the time someone mentioned back in the 40's about the communist movement to influence the U.S.A. over the airwaves and theater. Goverment intelligence had broken up a similar ring of conspirators against the country. They had been put in rank and file up to key positions in movie making and vaious forms of public communication to win America over. I found it so interesting I bought a couple of books that touched on it. One was a biography of Ronald Reagan. Interesting topic.
