"Investigate" the ACLU?

A few posters on this board are calling for the ACLU to be "investigated". Since the ACLU is actually nothing more than a law firm that files suits and tries them in court, what exactly are they to be "investigated" for? What crimes are they suspecting of committing ? Should we begin investigating other attorneys based on the type of cases they wish to try as well? Should law firms be investigated and arrested for filing civil suits people find upsetting? Is this a legitimate quest, or is this the Right Wing's own quest to suppress the rights of those with whom they disagree ? Since the ACLU needs to find agreement from judges and juries to win their court cases, how much culpability do the judges and juries have ? Should they be investigated as well for the decisions they reach? How is the ACLU itself a threat, if they need the consent of judges and juries to prevail in these suits that they file?

Actually just read a scary editorial somewhere that calls for the abolishment of fee shifting provisions of fed statutes that the ACLU and other citizens use.

For instence, an action brought for a civil rights violation under Sec 1983 provides for the prevailing plaintiff to collect attorney's fees. Same for the ADA and a host of other statutes (Fair Credit Reporting, Fair Debt Collection, Truth in Lending, Mag Moss ect)

Whoever wrote the article was arguing that if you cut out these fee provisions the ACLU won't take the cases. No mention of the fact that the ACLU is only getting these fees after they win and shown that someones civil rights have been violated.

And of course, by gutting these laws you get the fortunate side benefit of no other pesky consumers or citizens being able to use them.

This is being pushed by billionaire Richard Meon Scaife's World Nuts Daily. You don't think he has an ulterior motive do you?

ACLU pretending to be what they aren't.

What they are not is pro-civil rights they operate on trying to deny the civil rights of most of us. And do so by ripping off the system wasting OUR tax dollars.

Oh they tried........Believe me they tried......

You know what they are doing with the boyscouts.....trying to outlaw the organisation because they refure to have gay pedophiles be troop leaders....

And the fact the organisation represents morals and does not condone the Liberal mandate to force Gays into groups that choose to not associate with them.
