Which external DVD burner is best?
OK, so I've come to realize that all of my digital photos are on my laptop. I keep having a recurring nightmare that my hard drive is going to crash or my laptop goes missing.
At first I thought an external hard-drive might be the answer but I am looking for a non corruptible medium to preserve my photos for the next 50 years (or so). A very helpful guy at Best Buy suggested the Sony DVD burner and Verbatim DVD discs that hold 4.7 Gigs each I tend to agree with him as there is no guarantee a second hard drive won't crash. I'm not technical so I'm looking for all you geeks (and I mean that in the nicest way possible) to give me your suggestions. Is there a third alternative? Or fourth? Free pocket protector for the best answer! Thanks |

Whatever drive or format you choose, remember to use the best qualify media you can afford, since not all discs are created equal. Cheap CD-R or DVD-R, etc. are susceptible to damage from all sorts of sources.

The guy said Verbatim makes the best DVD discs. Any comments?
