$63,000 for my new C55 engine!!

$43,000 AWP, $53,000 retail and about $10,000 for install!! I'll get the final bill in a couple of days. Engine replaced due to "pourous oil bridge" defect in Mftd process. It happened to one other car in the world so far. Oil was leaking out, more when hot.

Good news: extended warranty 7yr/100,000 miles.

That's unbelievable. Assume that the install price includes $1,000 worth of incidentals (gaskets, hoses, etc.). That leaves $9,000 for labor. There are a couple of ways to put that figure in perspective.

You either have a mechanic at $100 per hour working about 2-1/2 weeks solid.

Or you have a mechanic who takes 2 days to do the install billing at about $560 per hour.

What am I missing?

Something is amiss here.

Are those Canadian dollars? I thought the price for an AMG V8 was closer to the $21,000 to $25,000 range.

I'll sell you a beautiful 3.0 liter diesel engine for only $15K, and throw in the rest of the car for free.

The base price of a complete C55 in the US is less than $63k. At that price would be cheaper to just buy a new car.

Shouldn't it be covered by the original warranty? Did I miss something?
