That A380 sure is butt-ash ugly. The 747 looks svelte by comparison, and the 7E7 (although in a different size class) is real nice looking. Looks don't matter that much I guess, but I'd hate to dump that much money into an ugly plane though. Airbus still has to hope it's test program goes OK, I know they've had problems in the past (such as with fly-by-wire, etc). One crash during flight testing, uh-huh-huh, I can tell you what's gonna happen to the A380 program! Has one even flown yet?
One problem I do have with the 7E7 is that it's a "plastic" airplane, that kinda bothers me, reminds me of the Comet back in the 50's, I hope a big plastic airplane can take all the pressurizations (I know I know, it's not entirely correct to call it plastic, but still . REAL airplanes are made out of aluminum! Gilly

I'll bet the French said the same thing about the first 747.

I would dread being on that plane with 7 or 8 hundred other people, and arriving at an airport with facilities that are already busting at the seams when a 747 pulls in. Maybe its cheaper per passenger to fly...but what about all the new construction that will need to be done to accomodate such masses of people?? They might want to consult themepark engineers on this one...lol
Last time I flew on an Airbus, the starter broke...We offered to push-start, but they declined. (ended up flying in a DC8)

Not too many airports in the US can handle that passenger load and weight of the airplane. I hope the US airports do not make modifications to accomodate that airplane like they are doing in LAX. They would just be stabbing Boeing in the foot by doing so.
Also bigger airplanes means less jobs for pilots.

The 747 debut was 1968 I bet the tech is much greater today, the C-5 galaxy dwarfs the air bus and that has been in service since the 60's.

FedEx has already ordered a few of them. Folks here already quip that wherever that behemoth lands...it IS a hub!
Meaning, it's cargo carrying capacity rivals most of the package capacities of the Fedex regional hubs!
