Insurance for the self employed

Any people here self employed? What do you do about health insurance? I am looking at Blue Choice HMO, it is about $430 a month for myself and family and has vision & dental. What do you have?

Blue Choice here, $399 mo it's not too bad, no prescription coverage and 30% co-pay and $1000 deductible.

But here's the good part, the provider charges you the Blue Cross contract rate which is usually about 70-80% of the bill so the fee's are very little. It cost us $112 to deliver a baby....not bad. I'm covered by the VA but I still use BC for in town stuff and let the VA handle my service connected problems.

We paid $920 out of pocket for a couple years because it's hard to get coverage with pre-existing conditions so $399 isn't too bad. If you don't have any pre-existing conditions check out the National Association for the Self Employed program it works and they pay.

I am not self employed but for perspective my wifes PPO plan costs the two of us $400 a month. The Blue cross plan seems quite reasonible for a self employed person

I'm self employed but its still Blue Cross, just for me alone its a lot less expensive (obviously). Still scary-spent a lot of time uncovered.
