Mercedes w203 driven over by a tank

A leopard tank with a weight of appr. 40 metric tons drove over a car in Norway this week during the military exercise "Battle Griffin". Look here

The car was waiting along a road waiting for the tank to stop and let them pass. Luckily both people in the car survived without serious injuries.

If anyone know about a website translating from norwegian to english, please let me know.

Yes, I'd like to see a picture of the tank!

Apparently this is a growing Norwegian sport

And now, the rest of the story . . .

Tank driver could face prison term

The commander of the tank that drove over a passenger car on Wednesday could go to prison if the incident goes to a civil trial.

Prosecution chief John Bjøraas told the paper that driving such a heavy and dangerous vehicle required extra care. The commander said that a moment's check of the tank's instruments was behind the collision.

"It was just an instant, I ducked my head down in the vehicle to check the map and GPS (Global Positioning System). I had just seen that the road was clear. Then I noticed that the vehicle started to climb while at the same time one of the crew yelled that there was a car in the road. Then I got scared," the tank chief said. He told Adresseavisen he deeply regretted the incident.

The tank rolled over the driver's side of the Okkenhaug's new Mercedes, and Knut miraculously avoided injury by quickly stretching as far out of the way as his seat belt would allow.

Bjøraas said that negligence of this sort could result in fines or a prison term of up to 12 months.

The incident was just one of several involving tanks engaged in the NATO exercise Battle Griffin. The military have now decided to move more tanks into operation by loading them onto trucks and keeping as many off the roads as possible.

My Norwegian is not what it used to be....

Just what does this mean?

" Full fart"

Now if I were the driver, I think that would perfectly describe my American response.

Or it could be because they don't have NASCAR.

Full fart = full throttle/maximum speed

It's a much more complete crash-test than Euro Ncap.
