Firearms

I recently got into guns. i own an old Mosin Nagant rifle, a cheap Hi-point 9mm pistol, and recently i just got done fixing a .32 colt revolver. i got to shoot a Glock 22 and a Baretta 92 the other day. very impressed with the glock, but the Baretta just looks a level above in looks.

the revolver i just got done fixing and refinishing is a .32. and the bullets that came with it was a .32S&W L. which is not available around here. however i did find some .32 S&W. is it just a shorter (less powerful) version of the S&W L? my instinct tells me to buy a pack and try to fire it. however i'd like to be on the safe side when in comes to guns and ammunitions.

i was thinking in a couple of weeks to get either a Yugo SKS, or one of the cheaper AK47's. what would be your pick out of the 2? the SKS i think is almost half the price of the AK47.

anyways please talk about guns.

In short SKS's suck, get a mini-14 or 30.

I'm not really into military guns but I aquired a Colt AR-15 and use it around the farm and some traget practice, it's nice to know that I haven't lost my touch since my army days.

If you want to have a new gun experience try black powder, it's very easy to work with loads and accurate.

You do realize that an AK-47 is a class 3 firearm (full auto)....and requires a special license to own.

Or are you refering to the AKS whick is a semi-auto. THe difference there is the difference between a Colt M-16 and a Colt AR-15 ...they look the same but one is auto and the other semi-auto.

Ruger Mini-14 -- in stainless with folding stock.....

1924 Yugoslavian 8mm Mauser --- Kicks like a mule with Norma 196 grain loads I use.

Chinese SKS

Colt AR-15 chambered for 7.62x39 russian.......

and I have a few more.......

Just got myself an Iver-Johnson M-1 carbine. These were alwayd my favorite guns... well, the military wartime models, anyway, but who can afford those? Besides, I wanted a shooter... and my IJ is completely compatible with GI models and parts, unlike the Universal. Add a bayonet barrel band and solid wood handguard and it'll be indistinguishable from a GI M-1!

I like black powder. I also like to churn my own butter, ride in a buggy and hand crank my car.

pointless

Careful! Don't you have an older SD? Some might say that's an antiquated car and you need to update. To each his own!

(FWIW, black powder ain't my thing either... just giving you a hard time)

Ooooh... pretty! Nice looking gun there!!!

MedMech 03-01-2005 12:39 PM

I can reload it in a little less than 20 seconds, but it's so accurate it's rarly needed, and with that .50 cruising @ 2600 fps it provides a pretty good thump.

Remind me never to pi$$ you off!

I rarely get to shoot... last time was over 4 years ago: M-16 qualification for Air National Guard. I am due again. At the time I shot "expert marksman," but it was mostly luck. Hope I can repeat that performance when I go again... and I hope I get the real gun and not the laser attachment thing. Some of the guys have gotten the latter... BORING.

I need to get some carbine ammo and find a gun club to go do some shooting at! This thread has me jones-ing to try out my M-1. I need to find some GI magazines for it, though. It came with a flimsy Universal one. Yuck.

I think the Ak or AK variant is easier to live with. I am not sure what you can get but here in California you can't get much. I guess if you were able to get your hands on a removeable magazine SKS that would be the cheapest way to go. I know some of the Chinese made SKS's had a trigger group problem where one pull of the trigger would empty the whole magazine :D

Come on up to central MI and we can go plinking. I shoot 20-30 rounds of 22.250 a week during the winter and spring at various targets. Lately my fun has been shooting quarter size reflectors the state put on tree's and fence posts to mark ash bore area's, they are no longer needed and a pain in the a$$ when deer scouting so down they go.

With the 22.250 I can hit them 100% of the time inside 300yds and about 75% @ 300-400. and that's usually from the truck or a fence post for a rest. Off hand I can usually knock them up to 150 on a good day on bad days it takes a couple shots.

Happiness Is A Warm Gun
(John Lennon, Paul McCartney)
Lead Vocal: John Lennon

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do do do, oh yeah
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane

The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust

Down
I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix 'cause I'm going down

Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun

Happiness is a warm gun (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, mama (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
When I hold you in my arms (Oo-oo oh yeah)
And I feel my finger on your trigger (Oo-oo oh yeah)
I know no one can do me no harm (Oo-oo oh yeah)
Because happiness is a warm gun, mama (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm, yes it is, gun (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Well, don't you know happiness is a warm gun, mama? (Happiness is a warm gun, yeah)
