Anyone know about S-K tools?

I bought a few S-K tools a few weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about them. I was tired of breaking Crapsmans and was looking for something better. I bought them at a local parts supply store and they looked more durable than the C-mans so I bought them.
I remember seeing some S-K's in my dad's set of tools when I was a kid so I guess S-K has been around for a while.

Before I became an Analytical Chemist I built submarines for a living and S-K was all we used for tools. The best stuff around in my opinion back then (~mid '80s). Don't know 'bout now though, they could've been bought out by some other company which produces cheap stuff.

S-K's always had a good reputation. But, I haven't seen the latest version of their tools either. I have tried the Husky tools from HD with a bit of success. When they first came out with them, they would take a broken Craftsman in exchange. The 3/8 ratchet seems to be heavier and more durable than the Craftsman.

S-K (commonly referred to by us mechanics as "slip and kill") is a pretty decent tool. They're a step above Craftsman but nowhere near Snap-on, MAC, Hazet or Stahlwille quality. I've had a set of SK screwdrivers now going on 8+ years and they've held up pretty well although every time the Snap-on truck stops by my shop, I'm always tempted to replace the SKs, as their blades are much better. I've come close to rounding off some phillips heads with my SK screwdrivers, but I quickly broke out my ratcheting Snap-on (with different blade tips stored in the handle) and got the screws out with no problem.

For the DIYer, SK is certainly adequate and reasonably priced.

My $0.02
