One tough Marine

Came across this from a friend. Shows a little bit of what our troops are doing in Iraq.

And yet they feel the need to push the Jessica Lynch hoax on people.
Go figure.

There's a "backstory" to modern combat. Due to better technology in body armor and evac procedures, there are more survivors, but more with severe extremity wounds. In Vietnam, one in three soldiers injured in combat died from wounds. In Iraq, it's one in eight, but the injuries are more severe due to hi velocity bullets, RPGs and IEDs. In response, the military has approved the use of nerve block anethesia in the field instead of the SOP of using general anethesia morphine.

He already has several Purple Hearts for previous battles throughout his career and he has turned some down so that he could stay with his unit.
AFAIK, based on my dad's experience, you don't get "several" Purple Hearts, you get the first one, then after that if you get wounded again you get a silver star added to it each time. He was wounded twice in Korea.

The star signifies a purple heart. You are awarded the purple heart when wounded, but after the ribbon you display the stars on the ribbon. So yes you do get several purple hearts which are the award and certificate.

According to the Google ads at the bottom of the page, you can just buy those silly medals now--guess it's no longer a prerequisite to invade and occupy anymore.

don't let the guilt overcome you more than it already has. Why do you slam this forum on benzworld and come back over here?

We know why!
