Kill people..............

I don't know about what others have found this weekend in their email, but I have more SPAM than ever before!

I bought into a dialer that promised no spam! Since about Thursday night, a wave of spam is hitting me on my email and beyond. I'm fighting back by informing them that I will murder them, that I wiil shoot their famialy, that I am crazy, that their lives are in jeooardy.

I will kill!

Have you recently opened an e-mail taking you to a bogus (but genuine looking) site that required your signon and password? It does happen, even to the most wary of us.

The spammer can now through your signon, send tons of spam to you and others until your ISP shuts down your account. Happened to me this summer. :computer:

LOL :D yeah the guy/gal you're trying to scare is on vacation in the Bahamas.

No, I didn't sign on to anything new with password etc. Every time I turn it on lately there is spam where there was none before and it makes me mad that these rotten people invade me, even interrupt what I'm doing! I hate spam!

I know my language is a bit too strong, but how else are these idiots gonna get the message? Too bad there isn't a way to return a message to them that will fry their server!

BB
You might have your email address published somewhere on a website. That is a great way to receive a lot of Spam. If you must have your address published, try doing it without the "mailto" tag that makes it into a link. Instead let people just copy and paste it into their emails.

I use a free program called MailWasher. It lets you access your email account, and then you can delete, blacklist, bounce, add to friends list and various other options, before you actually download the mail. The worst thing to do to Spam is to reply, then the spammers know they have a "live" address and will continue to send Spam. If they keep on receiving bounced messages from your address they tend to stop sending after a while. I don't believe we will ever get rid of Spam completely, but I have cut back on mine significantly.

PS: It is also a good idea to run a free program like Spybot Search and Destroy or AdAware every week or two. If you have never cleaned spyware (scumware) from your computer, you will be amazed at the increased performance you get. Google spyware for more info.

Spam? You don't know spam. Heck, I collect about 15 thousand or so spam and virus infected spam items daily  Send me your email address and I’ll send em all yer way!!! It’ll give ya perspective with that little anger issue you’re struggling with…. ;)

It's rather interesting.

My spam count is less than 20 per day. I have worked on reducing it by sending the message to "remove" me from their mailing list. Most have this option. Most seem to respect it.

I haven't even considered a spam filter yet.

If that worked it wasn't likely spam....those use bogus email adresses and stuff......on a real spam that tends to make it worse since now they know your address is valid...................but if it works for you, great....it made mine worse.

I'll likely jinx myself, but I almost never receive spam email. I've had the same hotmail account for four years too.

Don't know what I do or don't do, but I almost never get spam.

I do use Mozilla, which blocks all the popups.

BB, perhaps this will might make you and a lot of other people feel slightly better. There was an article I clipped from the NY Times (which I will try to find) about a spammer who was based in Greece but had an office in NY. First they hacked into the NY office phone system and reprogrammed all of the lines to ring simultaneously. Additionally, they were able to crash 216? or so servers for an entire week in Greece that were sending millions of emails per day. :D

Only 1 spam has cracked my gmail account in 7 months.

Ara T. 04-11-2005 07:44 PM

I get about 120 or so spam messages in my bulk folder in yahoo mail and there are always a couple every two days that slip through and find their way to my regular inbox. Aggravating....

Orkrist 04-11-2005 11:35 PM

I get absolutely no spam in my email. I use the roadrunner service in my area. Anyone use the google-mail service? I hear that's good, too.
