Suggestions for dealing with parts scam?

I'm sure someone has been in my shoes and can give me some advice. I purchased a set of rims and tires from an individual with a good track record for shipping parts. I send him a certified bank check via registered mail for the amount we agreed to. He sent me a confirmation email that he had received the check and would be prepping the wheels/tires for shipping. This confirmation was on 4/17 and I have not heard back from the individual since then, despite sending several emails asking for an update. I would not be concerned about the amount of time that has passed *IF* said individual would answer my emails. I assume at this point that he is going to keep my money and not send the wheels.

If this is the case, what are my options for recourse? We're talking a relatively large amount of cash and I would like to get some of it back (all would be great) if I'm not going to receive my wheels.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Contact the US Postal Service. This is mail fraud, a felony.

You can stop payment on a certified check - certifying is only a guarantying the funds are available, and allowing the reciever to immediate access to the funds. However, most banks charge for stopping payment of CF's. You might want to cut your losses before time runs out.
